or just see what the village is up to
This site is dedicated to the people, families and businesses that build our Forty Foot community.
Thought I would open with a personal statement..... "I am 46 years young and live on Ramsey Road, I have 8 year old twins who I take to and collect from the school bus stop. I am not a "busy body" nor do I want to poke my nose in where its not wanted but I truly believe, no I know that unless we do something no one else will, I know 44 ton lorries are shaking the foundations of our houses and I know it is only a matter of time before we have a death in the village due to speeding."
Meeting in the Village Hall
Well, I wont say it was a fantastic turn out but never the less I was pleased at the amount of people that took the time, braved the weather and came to join us. Some came to support and others to have their say and all things considered we managed to demonstrate a need for traffic calming in Forty Foot. Many things were discussed and debated during the 3 hour meeting and of course most things came down to money and the lack of it. This said, we have opened many doors and have some options going forward in order to bring some elements of traffic calming to our village.
I have listed below a few positives from the meeting and hope we can move things forward and demonstrate our desire to prevent the inevitable from happening.
*SPEEDWATCH will be coming to our village for the first time so we can start to gather data on the percentage of speeders that come through the village.
* We can display these 30mph signs on our wheelie bins, please click here to apply for your free stickers.
* The lack of money available did not detract from the fact that Peter Reeve, Sgt. Dave Savil and the Speedwatch project all demonstrated their commitment to our village and the challenges ahead.
